THE MEANING OF THE MANAGER
Rediscovering Christmas – Christmas displays of Jesus resting in a manger populate lawns and churchyards, and songs about shepherds and angels fill the air. Yet despite the abundance of these Christian references in popular culture, how many of us have examined the hard edges of this biblical story? In this class we will journey into the surprising background of the Nativity. By understanding the message of hope and salvation within the Bible’s account of Jesus’ birth, we will understand the redeeming power of God’s grace in a meaningful and deeper way. BECAUSE OF BETHLEHEM
Christmas. It brings sleigh bells ringing and carolers singing. And sometimes it brings heartache and hurt feelings. If you could use some true Christmas this Christmas, join us as we unpack the enduring promises of Christmas and discover a lifetime of hope because of one baby born in Bethlehem. (November 5, 12, 19, 26). Recommended book: Because of Bethlehem Love is Born, Hope is Here by Max Lucado. – with Pastor Chuck Schivley in the Fireplace Room
PRACTICAL CHRISTIAN LIVING – with Reverend Marlin Odom – Room 100
Unit 1: The Holy Trinity: Every day we hear discussions and opinions about who God is, what He is like, and what He expects of us. It is critical that we explore the nature of God to prepare us to respond to arguments against our belief in the One True God.
Unit 2: Kings of Judah – One might wonder how studying the history of God’s people and the lives of long-deceased kings might apply to Christians in the twenty-first century. This unit reminds us that the great truths of faith over doubt and despair, of trust in God over self-reliance, and of humility over arrogance—reminders we need today as they did in the days of Judah’s kings.
LADIES’ PRAYER – Chapel at 9am
The Quest – (10AM)
The crooked punctuation mark at the end of a sentence speaks of curiosity, interest, and perhaps doubt. A punctuation question is an invitation to vulnerability, to intimacy. The Bible does not shy away from such an invite. Over and over we see the people of God asking questions of their Creator. We also see the God of the universe asking questions of His creation. The Quest is a challenge to accept the invitation. In this six-week excursion with Jesus, Beth Moore uses questions from Scripture to lead you into intimacy with the One who knows you best. Learn to dig into the Word, to respond to the questions of God, and to bring your questions before Him. Let the crooked punctuation mark be the map that points you into a closer relationship with the Father. Begins on November 7. – with Reverend Rebecca Keefe in the Fireplace Room
Bible study is located in the Fireplace Room. Prayer at 9am in the Chapel prior to the study. In-Touch Women’s Study Students will be responsible for ordering their own study materials. You can do this through Bethany’s bookstore.

The purpose of CELEBRATE RECOVERY is to celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through eight recovery principles found in the Beatitudes. By working and applying these principles, we begin to grow spiritually and become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our problems. Change takes place as we share our experiences, hopes and strengths with each other. We gain freedom from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, joy, serenity, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. This is a Christian twelve-step program for people who have hurts, habits and/or hang ups. For more information, please see our display in the foyer. – Lighthouse Auditorium
