45th Annual Singing Christmas Tree Spectacular
Bethany Assembly’s 2019 Singing Christmas Tree Spectacular will be presented over the first two weekends of December, with four presentations December 6-8 and four presentations December 13-15. All eight presentations are free to the public with no individual reserved seating. Presentation times are Friday at 7 pm, Saturday at 6 pm, and Sunday at 3 pm and again at 6 pm. This 45th annual presentation from Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam, MA features the 60-voice Bethany Choir arrayed in a 25’ tall steel “tree” in the church’s main sanctuary. Accompanying the choir is the 19-piece Bethany Orchestra, and the program is visually enhanced by actors from Bethany’s Drama Department.
This year’s musical is entitled “God Came Down!”, which features new arrangements to classic Christmas songs and hymns as well as new Christmas songs to thematically tell the story of the Advent of the Christ-child, anchored by the popular “God Came Down”, sung by the Choir in recent years. A delightful feature of the Singing Christmas Tree Spectacular is the lighting on the tree that is programmed to “dance” to the beat of the live music. Young and old alike marvel in the colorful, dancing lights as the Bethany Choir and Orchestra and Bethany’s Drama Department once again present “Bethany’s Christmas gift to the Pioneer Valley”.
“I want to personally invite you to join with us as we celebrate the Advent of the Christ-child and are once again reminded of the true meaning of Christmas with this year’s presentation of “God Came Down!”. I look forward to seeing you!”, says Ken Bryars, Minister of Music at the church, and Director of the 2019 Singing Christmas Tree Spectacular. Bethany Assembly of God is located at the corner of Main Street and Rt. 57 in Agawam, MA.
