BETHANY ASSEMBLY OF GOD
2018 SINGING CHRISTMAS TREE SPECTACULAR
Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam, Massachusetts will present their 44th annual Singing Christmas Tree Spectacular in eight presentations over the first two weekends of December. The 60 voice Bethany Choir, under the direction of Minister of Music Ken Bryars, becomes the focal point of the Spectacular, arrayed as ornaments on a towering 25 foot steel tree, and are joined by the 18 piece Bethany Orchestra to present the timeless story of the Advent of the Christ in uplifting and inspiring music. Complementing the music and message of the coming of the Christ-child are members of the Bethany Drama Department, bringing a visual re-enactment of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus, with the angels, shepherds, and the Magi.
The musical, entitled “Ring the Bells, Emmanuel Has Come”, begins with Movement 1 with The Carols of Christmas, a trio of musical numbers including a medley of Christmas favorites, followed by a Celtic-flavored Madrigal medley, and ending with the Christmas favorite “The Little Drummer Boy”. Movement 2 brings The Christ of Christmas, with the title song “Ring the Bells”, a brand-new Christmas lullaby, followed by “Hallelujah, Light Has Come” (written by Barlow Girl), and ending with the thought-provoking “How Many Kings”. Movement 3 brings The Celebration of Christmaswith “Mary, Did You Know”, followed by the pure Southern Gospel “God Came Down”, and ending with a reprise of “Ring The Bells”.
Throughout the musical, the multi-colored lights on the tree dance to the beat of the music, producing a dazzling addition to the music. Adding to that the Environmental Projection on the walls, the Singing Christmas Tree Spectacular becomes a sight and sound extravaganza for the whole family. Presentations are Friday, December 7 at 7 pm, Saturday, December 8 at 6 pm, and Sunday, December 9 at 3 pm and again at 6 pm the first weekend. The second weekend is the same, with presentations on Friday, December 14 at 7 pm, Saturday, December 15 at 6 pm, and Sunday, December 16 at 3 pm and again at 6 pm.
